Victoria Police are appealing for public assistance after three vehicles were extensively damaged in Rosebud late last month, causing tens of thousands of dollars in repair costs.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 25 July, at a licensed premises on Point Nepean Road. According to investigators, an unknown woman left the venue shortly after 3:00am and entered the adjoining car park.

Police believe the woman walked among parked vehicles and deliberately damaged multiple panels on three separate cars. The estimated cost of the damage is about $20,000. After the alleged vandalism, the woman was seen leaving the area on foot.

Investigators have released a still image and CCTV footage of a woman they believe may be able to assist with the investigation. The images, obtained from security cameras at the premises, show a woman wearing dark clothing. Police have not released further identifying information at this stage.

Authorities are urging anyone who recognises the woman or has information about her whereabouts to come forward. Police have stressed that speaking with this person may help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and assist in determining who is responsible.

The investigation is being handled by local detectives from the Mornington Peninsula area, who are working through witness statements and surveillance footage in an effort to progress the case.

Officers have also encouraged local panel beaters, repair shops, and scrap yards to report any suspicious activity or inquiries relating to vehicle damage in the days following 25 July.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an anonymous report via the Crime Stoppers website. Police have emphasised that all information, no matter how minor it may seem, could be valuable to the investigation.

The Mornington Peninsula has experienced a small number of similar incidents in recent years, though police have not confirmed whether this case is linked to any other reports.

Police are reminding the public to remain vigilant, particularly when leaving vehicles unattended in public car parks during late-night hours, and to report suspicious behaviour immediately.

As the investigation continues, authorities are hopeful that the release of the CCTV footage will prompt members of the community to come forward, helping to identify the woman and resolve the case.
