Teen Arrested After Stolen Car Crashes into Cranebrook Medical Centre

A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody following a police pursuit in Western Sydney that ended with a stolen vehicle crashing into a medical centre, causing significant damage.

The incident occurred late on Friday night in Cranebrook, where police attempted to stop a stolen BMW SUV on Northern Road. The vehicle, reported stolen earlier that evening from a hotel in Cambridge Park, failed to stop, prompting police to initiate a pursuit.

Due to concerns for public safety, the police discontinued the pursuit shortly after it began. Despite this, the teenager continued to drive recklessly, leading to a collision with a Mitsubishi SUV on the Great Western Highway at St Marys.

Following the collision, the stolen BMW veered off the road and crashed into a nearby medical centre. The impact caused substantial damage to the building and its signage. Photographs from the scene showed debris scattered across the area.

After the crash, the teenage driver attempted to flee but was found hiding inside the damaged medical centre. Officers from the Police Dog Squad assisted in his arrest. Paramedics treated the boy at the scene before transporting him to a hospital under police supervision.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 39-year-old woman, was assessed by paramedics but did not require hospitalization.

The teenager faces multiple charges, including dangerous driving during a police pursuit, driving without a license, and using a vehicle without consent. He is scheduled to appear in children’s court on Saturday.

The investigation is being led by Strike Force Puma in conjunction with the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command. Police have requested that anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the incident come forward to assist with inquiries.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about stolen vehicle-related crime and the risks posed to public safety during police pursuits on busy roads in Western Sydney. Law enforcement agencies continue to emphasize the importance of community cooperation and responsible driving to prevent similar occurrences.
