Man Dies After Being Hit by a Car in Mount Waverley Suburb

A 64-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle in the Melbourne suburb of Mount Waverley last week. The incident occurred during peak-hour traffic and has prompted renewed concerns over pedestrian safety in suburban areas.

Emergency services were called to Stephensons Road at around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, 15 July, following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle. The man, a resident, suffered critical injuries and was transported to the hospital. Despite medical efforts, he died several days later as a result of his injuries.

The vehicle involved was driven by a 72-year-old man from Canterbury. He remained at the scene and cooperated with Victoria Police. At this stage, no charges have been laid.

Police from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. No other injuries were reported. Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward.
