Two men have been charged following an alleged assault and attempted vehicle break-in in Jacobs Well, Queensland, on Thursday night, 8 August.

According to Queensland Police, the incident occurred at approximately 8:30pm on Kumgum Street, when it is alleged that two men attempted to unlawfully enter a Toyota Landcruiser parked at a residential property.

Police allege that the vehicle’s owner confronted the pair during the attempted break-in. A verbal exchange quickly escalated, resulting in a physical altercation. The alleged offenders then fled the scene on foot before officers arrived.

Police units from Coomera and Pimpama stations were dispatched to the area and conducted patrols. Shortly after, two men matching the description of the alleged offenders were located at the Jacobs Well boat ramp. Both were taken into custody without incident.

A 27-year-old man from Jacobs Well has been charged with unlawful entry of a vehicle and common assault. He is scheduled to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on 21 August.

A 25-year-old man from Evans Head, New South Wales, has been charged with common assault. He is also expected to face Southport Magistrates Court on the same date.

Authorities confirmed that investigations are continuing and have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges. Police have not released the names of the accused at this stage.

Jacobs Well, a small coastal community in the northern Gold Coast region, is known for its boating facilities and quiet residential streets. While crime rates in the area are generally lower compared to metropolitan centres, police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.

This latest incident follows broader Queensland Police warnings about opportunistic vehicle thefts and property crime in suburban and coastal communities. Authorities recommend residents lock vehicles, secure valuables, and consider the use of motion-activated lighting or security cameras as deterrents.

Anyone with further information or who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in the Jacobs Well area around the time of the incident is encouraged to contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide anonymous information via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Southport Magistrates Court will determine the next steps in the legal process when the two men appear later this month.
