Four Arrested After Armed Robberies in West Suburbs

Four males have been arrested following a police pursuit linked to a series of alleged armed robberies across Melbourne’s west on Tuesday night, 22 July.

Police spotted a stolen Audi sedan on Leakes Road in Tarneit shortly after the last reported robbery. With support from the Air Wing, the vehicle was tracked along the Princes Freeway and through the backstreets of Spotswood, Yarraville, and Seddon. The pursuit ended on Chatham Street in Footscray, where officers intercepted the car and arrested its occupants.

The arrested individuals include a 20-year-old man from Glenroy, a 19-year-old from Wallan, an 18-year-old from Werribee, and a 17-year-old boy from the Merri-bek area. They are expected to be interviewed by police.

The arrests are connected to four armed robberies reported earlier in the evening at bottle shops and service stations in Derrimut, Tottenham, and Tarneit. In each case, the group allegedly used at least one edged weapon to threaten staff and demanded cash, cigarettes, and alcohol before fleeing in the stolen vehicle.

The targeted locations and times were:

• 8.15pm: Service station on Fitzgerald Road, Derrimut
• 8.50pm: Bottle shop on Sunshine Road, Tottenham
  
• 11.00pm: Service station on Davis Road, Tarneit
  
• 11.10pm: Service station on Leakes Road, Tarneit
  

No physical injuries were reported during any of the incidents and investigations are ongoing.
