Elderly Woman Killed in Bullaburra Road Accident

An elderly woman has died following a collision involving a vehicle in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales.

The incident occurred shortly after 7:00pm on Wednesday, 30 July 2025, on the Great Western Highway near Bullaburra. Emergency services were called to the scene after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed that the pedestrian, a woman believed to be in her 70s, had died at the scene from her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a man whose age has not been disclosed, was not physically injured in the collision. He was taken to Katoomba Hospital to undergo mandatory testing, as per standard procedure following serious road incidents.

In response to the fatality, a crime scene was established, and detectives from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command have commenced a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

At this stage, no charges have been laid, and police have not disclosed whether speed, visibility, or other contributing factors were involved. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Authorities are now appealing to members of the public for assistance. Investigators are particularly seeking dashcam footage from vehicles that may have been in the area at the time or witnesses who can provide further information.

Motorists in the area were advised to expect delays on Wednesday evening as officers conducted on-site investigations and cleared the roadway. The Great Western Highway has since reopened.

This incident adds to a growing number of fatal pedestrian accidents in regional New South Wales, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in mixed-use traffic zones, particularly during nighttime hours.
