Greenvale Man Charged with Murder After March Incident

A 48-year-old man from Mickleham has been charged with murder and assault in connection with two violent incidents, including one that led to the death of a 42-year-old Meadow Heights man.

Detectives from Victoria Police’s Homicide Squad arrested the accused on the morning of Tuesday, 29 July. He was formally charged and is scheduled to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

The charges relate to a physical altercation that occurred on Sunday, 30 March 2025, at a residential construction site on Supreme Avenue in Greenvale. Emergency services were called to the scene around 12:45 p.m. after reports of a fight between two men. When officers arrived, they located a 42-year-old man with visible facial injuries. The other individual present was the Mickleham man, who has since been charged. Police spoke with both men at the scene before leaving.

It is believed the two individuals were known to each other. Later that day, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Meadow Heights man was dropped off at Northern Hospital in Epping with critical injuries. Medical staff notified police the following day after raising concerns about the nature and severity of the man’s condition.

Victoria Police now allege that a second assault took place sometime after the officers initially left the construction site. The victim died in hospital on 15 April, and the Homicide Squad subsequently took over the investigation.

The assault charge against the accused relates to an earlier incident involving the same two men. On 23 November 2024, a confrontation occurred at a separate construction site in Mickleham. The victim was hospitalised for two days with head injuries following that altercation.

As part of the ongoing investigation, a 58-year-old man from Taylors Hill was arrested at his home on 17 July. He was interviewed by detectives and later released pending further inquiries.

Police have not disclosed a possible motive, and the investigation into both incidents remains active. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information related to either altercation.
