A 53-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash during a sanctioned race event at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek.

Police and emergency services were called to Ferrers Road, Eastern Creek, around 8:10 pm on Saturday, 26 July 2025, after reports of a serious crash during an organised motorsport activity. NSW Ambulance paramedics and first responders attended the scene and attempted to treat the driver, who was pronounced dead at the site.

Authorities have confirmed that the incident involved only one vehicle and occurred during a sanctioned racing event. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command attended the scene, establishing a crime scene as part of standard procedures following a fatal incident. Forensic investigators and crash reconstruction experts are working alongside police to determine the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

A formal report will be prepared for submission to the New South Wales Coroner, who will oversee the investigation into the death. The governing body Motorsport Australia has been notified and is expected to assist in examining whether safety protocols were followed and regulations adhered to.

While details remain limited, investigators are focusing on circumstances such as the type of race, vehicle characteristics, track conditions, and possible mechanical factors. The crash underscores the inherent risks associated with motorsport, despite rigorous safety measures that form part of sanctioned events.

Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or recorded footage, such as mobile phone video, CCTV, or event cameras, to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Further updates are expected once the Coroner’s review is concluded and Motorsport Australia completes its internal safety audit. At this stage, no cause of death or contributing factors has been publicly confirmed.

This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of safety oversight in motorsports. Sydney Motorsport Park remains one of the region’s busiest racing venues, regularly hosting events that draw drivers and enthusiasts from across New South Wales.
