A serious multi-vehicle crash on the Pacific Highway late on Thursday night has left a woman hospitalized and triggered a police investigation.

Queensland Police say the crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. on 25 July 2025, near Bilinga on the Gold Coast. According to initial reports, a black Mitsubishi Lancer collided with the rear of a black Hyundai i20 while both vehicles were heading southbound. The impact caused both cars to lose control, strike the roadside barrier, and come to a stop across the southbound lanes of the highway.

A silver Holden Commodore was also travelling in the vicinity but was not damaged during the incident. Police did not disclose whether the Commodore was directly involved in the crash or simply present at the scene.

A 25-year-old female passenger in the Hyundai, from Currumbin Waters, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital. She was reported to be in stable condition. The driver of the Hyundai, also 25 and from Currumbin Waters, was uninjured in the crash.

The driver of the Mitsubishi sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital. Authorities have not released his identity or other details, though some unconfirmed reports suggest he may be from New South Wales.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, securing the area and ensuring the damaged vehicles were removed safely. The crash caused temporary disruption to traffic, as both southbound lanes were obstructed during the response and clean-up efforts.

Queensland Police’s Forensic Crash Unit is leading the investigation and has appealed to the public for assistance. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who possesses dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.

Authorities have not commented on whether speed, driver impairment, or mechanical failure may have contributed to the collision. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at the Crime Stoppers website. All information can be provided anonymously.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the full sequence of events and whether any charges may be laid.
