Shots Fired into Home in Croydon Park

A police investigation is underway after a targeted shooting at a home in Croydon Park, in Sydney’s inner west, on Friday night.

Around 8:00 p.m. on 25 July 2025, officers from Burwood Police Area Command were called to Queen Street following reports that gunshots had been fired into a residential property. Upon arrival, police found that two rounds had been discharged into the front of the home.

At the time of the incident, six people were inside the residence: a 44-year-old man, three women aged 40, 51 and 71, and two children aged six and five. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to initial police inquiries, a person approached the house on foot and fired two shots from a pistol before fleeing the scene in a white hatchback. The vehicle was last seen travelling north along Tavistock Street. Investigators have not yet released further information about the vehicle or the identity of the suspect.

A crime scene was immediately established, and forensic officers have conducted an examination of the area. Detectives believe the shooting was not random, describing it as a targeted incident. However, authorities have not confirmed whether the occupants of the home were known to the offender.

Police have launched a public appeal for information. Investigators are particularly interested in any CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage taken in the vicinity of Queen Street and Tavistock Street around the time of the shooting. They are urging local residents, motorists, or businesses who may have relevant recordings or witnessed any suspicious activity to come forward.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry to determine the motive and identify those involved. They are also reminding the public not to report information via social media and instead contact Burwood Police Station directly or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
