Investigation Continues into Greenvale Man’s Death Following Assault

Detectives from the Homicide Squad are seeking public assistance as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Greenvale earlier this year. The case stems from a series of violent incidents on Sunday, 30 March, which led to the victim’s critical injuries and eventual passing.

Victoria Police initially responded to reports of a physical altercation at a residential construction site on Supreme Avenue, Greenvale, around 12.45 pm. On arrival, officers found a 42‑year‑old man from Meadow Heights with visible facial injuries, along with a 48‑year‑old man from Craigieburn. After speaking with both individuals, who were reportedly known to each other, the police left the scene.

Later that afternoon, just before 4 pm, the Meadow Heights man was taken to a hospital in Epping in a critical condition. Hospital staff raised concerns about the nature of his injuries, and police were notified the following day. Investigators now believe a second assault took place after police had left the site, although the details of that subsequent attack remain unclear.

On Monday, 31 March, the 48‑year‑old Craigieburn man was arrested and interviewed, but subsequently released pending further inquiries. The case escalated on Tuesday, 15 April, when detectives were advised that the victim had died in hospital. The Homicide Squad then took over the investigation.

Further action occurred on Thursday, 17 July, when a 58‑year‑old man from Taylors Hill was arrested at his home. He was interviewed and released without charge as investigations continue.

Police urge anyone with information about the incident or those involved to come forward. Public cooperation is considered vital to piecing together exactly what transpired and ensuring accountability.
