Two men are set to face court after being formally charged with the murder of a 65-year-old woman in a drive-by shooting in Ambarvale, New South Wales (NSW), earlier this year. The incident, which shocked the community, occurred in what authorities have described as a targeted act of violence.

Detectives from Campbelltown City Police Area Command established Strike Force Apslawn to investigate the fatal shooting, which took place just before midnight on Monday, April 14, 2025. The victim was shot at her residence on Dickens Road in what police are treating as a public-place homicide.

After months of investigative work, police, with support from the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), made arrests at two separate addresses. A 32-year-old man was taken into custody at a home on Atkinson Street in Liverpool. Meanwhile, officers apprehended a 19-year-old man at a residence on Sudbury Street, Belmore.

Both individuals were transported to Bankstown Police Station, where they were each formally charged with murder. Authorities have not yet released further details about the motive or the relationship between the suspects and the victim, if any.

The New South Wales Police Force has continued to crack down on violent street crime, with targeted operations such as Strike Force Apslawn playing a critical role in identifying and apprehending those responsible. While major urban centers like Sydney and its surrounding suburbs continue to deal with the fallout of increased gang activity and organized violence, law enforcement agencies are under rising pressure to deliver swift justice and restore public confidence.

The pair is scheduled to appear in court this week. As the case progresses, the public will be watching closely for developments, particularly amid growing concerns about crime rates in suburban areas.

This incident, though isolated, underscores the importance of strong, proactive policing and community vigilance, particularly as some have criticized leniency in law enforcement policy and a lack of accountability in broader criminal justice reform.
