Late on Saturday night, police detained a 20-year-old man in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in Nana Glen, New South Wales. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the event.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, 9 August 2025, emergency services were dispatched to a residence on Orara Way in Nana Glen, located about 27 kilometres north of Coffs Harbour, following reports of a shooting involving two men known to each other. Upon arrival, NSW Ambulance paramedics found a 22-year-old man wounded at the scene. He received on-site medical treatment before being airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in critical condition.

Following initial inquiries, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command intercepted a sport utility vehicle on Carroll Street in Coffs Harbour at around 9 p.m. The driver, a 20-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. During a search of the vehicle, police located a rifle, which has been seized and sent for forensic examination to establish its involvement in the shooting.

The arrested individual was transported to Coffs Harbour Police Station for further investigation, which includes breath analysis to determine any influence of alcohol or substances. Police have not yet released further details regarding charges or motives as the investigation is still in its early stages.

A crime scene remains in place at the Orara Way residence, with officers from the Coffs-Clarence Police District leading the investigation under Strike Force Canova, a dedicated team established to coordinate inquiries into this incident. The team is focused on gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reconstructing the events leading up to and following the shooting.
