Teenage Girl Arrested After Fatal NSW Stabbing

A teenage girl has been arrested following a fatal stabbing in Edgeworth, a suburb in the Lake Macquarie region of New South Wales.

Emergency services were called to a residence on Euston Close around 10:20 pm on Monday, 4 August 2025, after reports of a stabbing. When officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District arrived, they found a teenage girl suffering from a serious injury to her torso.

Paramedics from NSW Ambulance provided initial medical treatment at the scene before transporting the injured girl to hospital. Despite efforts to save her, she died shortly after arrival. The girl has not yet been formally identified by authorities.

Police confirmed that the girl who was arrested at the scene was known to the victim. She is also a teenager and is currently assisting police with their inquiries. No further details about their relationship have been publicly disclosed.

A crime scene has been established at the property, and specialist forensic officers have begun examining the area for evidence. Investigators from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad are now working with local police to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
