Hunter Valley Groom Injured in Taxi Crash Before Wedding

A wedding day turned into a nightmare when a minibus carrying a groom and his party crashed in Hunter Valley, New South Wales, on the morning of Wednesday, July 30. The groom and one of his groomsmen sustained serious injuries when their vehicle rolled multiple times down an embankment, according to New South Wales Police.

Emergency services were called to Mount View Road in Mount View at around 10:30 a.m. following reports of a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, responders discovered a minibus that had rolled approximately seven times and came to rest nearly 150 meters from the road.

NSW Police confirmed that six people were on board at the time of the incident. “The groom of the wedding was actually on the bus, a 56-year-old male person who suffered serious injuries,” said Superintendent Steve Laksa, commander of the Hunter Valley Police District.

Another passenger, believed to be in his 60s, sustained head injuries. Both men were transported to hospital in serious but stable condition. The remaining four passengers are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesperson stated that a crime scene has been established at the site of the crash, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause. The vehicle involved is believed to have been a taxi or hired minibus transporting the groom’s party to the wedding venue.

Initial reports from 7News suggest the vehicle rolled several times before coming to a stop in dense bushland, indicating a significant loss of control. Weather and road conditions at the time have not been confirmed as contributing factors.

Authorities are urging any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash to contact Hunter Valley Police District.

No charges have been laid as of this writing. Police investigations are ongoing.
