Ethereum, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, marks a major milestone this year, its 10th anniversary. The blockchain platform, which underpins much of the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem, is being celebrated globally for its technological and financial achievements.

In the United States, Ethereum’s anniversary coincides with a shift in the national approach to crypto regulation. With new federal legislation aimed at overseeing stablecoins, industry participants see this as a timely moment to recognize Ethereum’s contribution to the digital asset space. According to Jaime Leverton, CEO of digital asset firm ReserveOne, “This delivers a new level of clarity that many have been waiting for and sets the stage for future growth.”

Leverton confirmed that ReserveOne will attend a private event on July 30 at Nasdaq’s closing bell, organized in partnership with key blockchain players. The same day, ETHGlobal and Blockchain Capital are hosting a public event in New York, while Coinbase Developer Platform will hold a hackathon on August 9 focused on building user-friendly on-chain tools.

Across the country, Ethereum Austin is organizing a local meetup, and the ETHGlobal community is hosting celebrations in San Francisco. These events are paired with ReserveOne’s online educational programming aimed at community outreach and digital asset awareness.

Celebrations are not limited to the U.S. In Europe, Dublin will host a “crypto céilí” led by Web3 organization SheFi. The event will feature live Irish music, lightning talks by founders, and a journaling session reflecting on Ethereum’s progress. SheFi is also launching its Dublin chapter and announcing a new partnership with Coinbase’s layer-2 network, Base.

In Switzerland the birthplace of Ethereum a gathering is planned in Zug, widely known as “crypto valley.” Schor Lukas, co-founder of Web3 wallet Safe, noted the region’s growth due to the Ethereum Foundation’s early presence there. Meanwhile, ETHGlobal will host anniversary events in Berlin, Lisbon, Rome, and other European crypto hubs.

Industry leaders highlight that this 10-year milestone marks Ethereum’s transition from experimental technology to foundational infrastructure. Lukas emphasized that Ethereum now secures value exceeding the GDP of some nations, pointing to its resilience and impact over the past decade.

Looking ahead, experts see continued growth with Ethereum, aiming to become the global settlement layer. However, technical challenges remain, particularly in achieving full account abstraction and improving scalability. Lukas noted that removing the reliance on static private keys through smart accounts will be essential for mainstream adoption.

As Ethereum enters its second decade, its community appears focused on innovation, real-world integration, and broader participation.
