A grand Bellevue Hill estate located next to the home of Lachlan Murdoch has entered the market with a price guide of $14.2 million, marking another high-profile entry in Sydney’s elite property scene.

The three-level property, known as Fernlee, has been tightly held since 1990, when it was purchased by Hong Kong-based doctors Robert and Katherine Yiu for $2.3 million. Now offered as a deceased estate, the 1930s-built home occupies 930 square meters of prime real estate with panoramic views stretching from the harbor to Manly.

Positioned on one of the suburb’s most prestigious streets, the residence features five bedrooms, three bathrooms, high ceilings, and spacious gardens. While ready for renovation, many original architectural elements have been well preserved. The property is within walking distance of top-tier schools, including Scots College and Cranbrook.

The listing is handled by Steven Zoellner of Laing + Simmons Double Bay and is scheduled to go under the hammer on August 13.

Lachlan Murdoch, co-chair of News Corp and the heir to Rupert Murdoch’s media empire, owns the neighboring Georgian-style mansion, which he and his wife, Elisabeth Sar, ah purchased for $23 million from the French government in 2009. Over the years, they have acquired additional surrounding properties totaling $7.03 million, securing nearly 1,600 square meters of extra land in the area.

The Bellevue Hill market continues to make headlines for record-setting sales. Recently, fashion stylist Natalie Jacobson and her husband, Warren, sold their home to private equity executive Nick Speer and his wife Camilla, members of Melbourne’s Deague property family, for over $40 million.

Another standout sale came when Meshki co-founder Natalie Khoei purchased the $48.5 million manor of filmmaker Warwick Ross and his wife Margot, setting the highest recorded sale in the suburb this year.

Nearby, the renovated Bellevue Hill property of Axiom Properties’ Ben Laurance and his wife, Jeanett, is expected to fetch up to $30 million. The couple purchased the architect-designed home for $6.825 million in 2009 and have since added luxury features, including a 13-meter pool, wine cellar, and gym.

In Woollahra, a four-bedroom home owned by JPMorgan’s Dragi Ristevski and Channel 9 journalist Vicky Jardim is also headed to auction. The property, last sold in 2019 for $6.435 million, is now listed for $14 million. Ristevski, a top investment banker recently hired by JPMorgan, is regarded as one of Australia’s leading dealmakers.

The property, designed with Hecker Guthrie interiors and Dangar Barin Smith landscaping, is represented by Ben Collier of The Agency and will go under the hammer on August 30.
